Coach Derek is back.
Okay.
I won’t talk about myself in third person like that again I promise.
But CoachDerek.ca (formerly CoachDS.com) is back.
Some of you reading may know me and my story. Some of you may not. I’ll get into the full back story in another post.
I used to write blog articles related to health and fitness and it became a healthy outlet for me. It allowed me take what’s going on in my often scrambled and chaotic brain and put it into a format that made sense.
For me, talking the talk helped me walk the walk. Writing and talking about health and fitness is what helped me stay on top of my own health and fitness goals. If I am not talking about it, I am generally not doing it.
I am passionate about health, fitness, and all things nutrition, even though I often struggle with my own health and fitness goals.
Part of that struggle balancing the many roles I play in my demanding day job.
Part of that struggle is making time for myself while being a partner to my wife and a father to three energetic (and sometimes soul sucking) kids.
And part of it is that managing your health and fitness is a difficult task in today’s day and age.
My goal with this blog/website is to help others find their way in health and fitness without making it their entire life, by focusing on the things that actually matter. My other goal is to show people that not all personal trainers and nutritionists should be put on a pedestal of perfection. Some of the best coaches I know and have worked with still battle with their own health goals and it’s important that we start to bridge the gap between what the tabloid magazine section at your grocery store says is possible (LOSE 10 LBS IN 8 SECONDS! JUST CUT YOUR LEG OFF!) and what’s actually possible.
Especially for those who have lived with lifelong obesity and health issues.
No, there won’t be any fixes, cleanses or “lose ten pounds in four days by doing this one secret that doctors aren’t telling you”.
Because the truth is, there is no secret to any of this. It’s just freaking hard.
My job, and my goal, is to make this less hard, and to help you find health and fitness Your Way.
Until next time,
-Derek
Oh my I love this!
